FAQs
Not by default. Most grid-connected battery systems shut down during an outage to protect engineers working on the network, unless your system is designed with a dedicated power backup arrangement. Our Sigenergy, Fox, and Duracell batteries all come with optional power backup at an additional cost.
Often yes — many UK homes can retrofit a battery onto an existing solar PV system. The main checks are inverter compatibility and whether the upgrade changes the connection requirements with your network operator. (Some installs may need G98/G99 processes depending on total connected capacity.)
Yes – you can install a battery without any solar panels on your home and still save money on your energy bills. Energy prices shift throughout the day, peaking in the evening and dropping dramatically at night. Some households will charge the battery from the grid when energy is cheapest and then use it throughout the day.
The right battery size depends mainly on (1) your electricity usage and patterns, (2) the size of your solar panel system, and (3) what you’re trying to optimise (bill reduction, self-consumption, or backup readiness). Our team can help you understand which battery size best suits your needs, or you can try our solar calculator to see the impact yourself.
